DR. LOUIS GRONDIN
Dr. Grondin is the Medical Director of the Cosmetic Laser & Vein Centre. After receiving his medical degree from Laval University in 1979, he completed his internship at McGill University in Montreal. In 1982, he completed a year of Internal Medicine at the University of Calgary, Foothills Hospital. In 2006, Dr. Grondin completed his MBA at the University of Calgary.
Dr. Grondin trained in Phlebology and Angiology in Montreal and Europe. He is trilingual and communicates to his patients in English, French, and Spanish.
The first outpatient vein clinic west of Toronto was opened by Dr. Grondin in 1985. Echosclerotherapy (ultrasound guided injection treatments for varicose veins) and ultrasound cartography (ultrasound mapping of the venous system) was performed for the first time in Canada at his clinic. He went onto pioneer the ultrasound guided catheter injection (Echosclerotherapy with Catheter) for difficult to reach varicose veins.Today, his technique is practiced worldwide and has not been associated with accidental arterial injection. As well, Dr. Grondin was the first physician to treat varicose veins with foam sclerotherapy in Canada.
In 2003 Endovenous Laser Surgery (ELVeS) was introduced to the practice. Within a short time, Dr. Grondin combined foam sclerotherapy with endovenous laser surgery which is another break through in the treatment of venous disease.
At the urging of his patients, Dr. Grondin expanded his practice to include cosmetic procedures. He is instrumental in the organization of medical and cosmetic meetings and workshops in Canada and abroad. He continues to publish articles on procedures and techniques he pioneered and developed and is often a guest on television and radio programs. Dr. Grondin is frequently invited to present at medical conferences and to be a participant at consensus meetings.
Dr. Grondin is the Past-President of the Canadian Society of Phlebology (treatment of venous disease), Past-Vice President of the International Union of Phlebology, Fellow of the American College of Phlebology and Fellow Emeritus of the Astralasian College of Phlebology and a member of:
